Yorkshire Movement and Dance

 

In March 2021, Jo delivered class and a creative workshop for the artists of Yorkshire Movement and Dance.

 

Sharing her screendance and choreography-for-camera practices, the group explored what it is to choreograph for screen-based work.

International Journal of Screendance

 

Jo is delighted to have her submission - a review of the dance film, TOM, by Wilkie Branson - accepted to this academic journal.

The 2021 issue of The International Journal of Screendance is titled This Is Where We Dance Now.

The article will be published later in 2021.

As part of the launch of the publication, Jo will be delivering a Lighting Talk in the online symposium: This is Where We Dance Now, on Saturday 13 March 2021.

One Dance UK Magazine

 

Following her delivery of the Filming Dance for Screen Webinar in December 2020, Jo was invited to write an article - Dance on Film: Find Your Creative Voice, for the One Dance UK magazine.

The article will be published in March 2021.

One Dance UK Webinar

 

To support applications for U.Dance Festival 2021, One Dance UK offers Filming Dance Upskilling webinars for U.Dance choreographers and group leaders, and all those who work with young people creating dance on camera.  

Jo was invited to deliver a Filming Dance for Screen upskilling webinar in December 2020 - you can view the session here.

Screen.Dance 2019

 

Scotland’s Festival of Dance on Screen.

In 2019, Screen.Dance Festival hosted an exhibition of Calibrate as part of the festival.

Jo delivered an Artist Presentation to sector professionals and a public audience, sharing her processes of making Calibrate and how her practice led her to make the work.

Village Raw

 

Village Raw is an independent arts and culture magazine. The magazine is a positive celebration of our culture, featuring the most exciting stories about makers & doers, writers & thinkers, art & culture, food & drink and health & wellbeing in North London. 

Following an exhibition of Calibrate, Village Raw published an interview with Jo titled, A Leap into the Unknown.

Women Cinemakers

 

Women Cinemakers opens up a new space for women directors to share their powerful films and ideas, encouraging mutual exchange where filmmakers and critics can converge to discuss the becoming of the film industry. Browsing through Women Cinemakers, you’ll find interviews and essays about emerging and established women filmmakers, reports from international film festivals, with a special look at female artists and professionals embracing leading roles in front of and behind the camera.

Jo was featured in Women Cinemakers in July, 2018.
